Frequently Asked Questions

What is laundry parfum?

Laundry parfum is a concentrated, oil-based fragrance designed specifically for fabric. Unlike fabric softeners or scent boosters that rely on water-soluble fragrance, Penum is applied directly to wool dryer spheres and activated by heat. The result is a deeper, longer-lasting scent that bonds to fabric fibers during the drying cycle.

How long does the scent last?

The fragrance stays in your fabrics between washes. Performance varies depending on fabric type — natural fibers like cotton and linen hold scent longer than synthetics. Usage amount, dryer heat, and how long items sit before use also affect persistence. Most users notice the strongest scent in the first few days, with a softer presence continuing until the next wash.

Will the oil stain my fabrics?

No. When used as directed (4–6 drops per sphere), the parfum is absorbed into the wool and transferred to fabric as a fine vapor during the heat cycle. It does not leave a visible or tactile residue on textiles. We recommend the directed amount — more is not necessarily better.

Is it safe for all dryer types?

Yes. Penum is compatible with standard vented, condenser, and heat-pump dryers. The parfum is applied to the wool spheres, not the machine drum. As the dryer heats, the parfum is distributed across the load through the tumbling action of the spheres.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Penum is vegan, cruelty-free, and made without synthetic fragrance oils. That said, if you have known fragrance sensitivities or allergies, we recommend testing on a small item first. A full ingredient list will be published before the next allocation is available.

How many loads does one bottle last?

One 100ml bottle provides approximately 50+ loads at the recommended usage of 4–6 drops per sphere. At standard laundry frequency, that's roughly 4–6 months of use.

What are the wool dryer spheres made of?

The spheres are made from premium natural wool, selected for density and heat retention. They soften fabric, reduce drying time, and act as the delivery system for the parfum. They're reusable for the life of the bottle and beyond.

Why is it called Series 001?

We formulate and pour in small batches to maintain quality. Each release is numbered as a Series. Once a Series is fully allocated, it closes until the next batch is ready. This isn't artificial scarcity — it's how we ensure every bottle meets our standard.

Where is Penum made?

Every bottle is formulated and hand-poured in Adelaide, South Australia.

How much is shipping?

$10 flat-rate shipping Australia-wide. Free shipping on orders over $100. All orders are dispatched within 48 hours via Australia Post with tracking.

Can I return it?

We offer a 30-day return window on unopened, unused products in original packaging. If you receive a product with a compromised seal or faulty dropper, we'll replace it at no cost.

When will Series 002 be available?

Series 002 is currently in development. Join the waitlist on our product page to be notified before public release.

Does it work with heat pump dryers?

Yes. Heat pump dryers operate at lower temperatures than conventional vented dryers but still generate sufficient heat to activate and distribute the parfum through the wool spheres. Results may be slightly softer than with a conventional dryer — if you want a stronger scent, try adding one or two additional drops.

How should I store the parfum?

Store upright in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not store near your dryer. Properly stored, the formula retains full performance for up to 24 months.

Is it safe for baby clothing or sensitive-skin households?

Penum contains fragrance compounds and is not recommended for use on infant clothing or items that come into direct contact with newborn skin. For sensitive-skin adults, we recommend testing on one item first before use across a full load.

I don't have wool dryer balls — can I still use it?

The wool dryer spheres are included with every Series 001 set and are an essential part of the system. The parfum is designed to be absorbed by the wool and released as vapor during the heat cycle — it is not intended to be applied directly to fabric or the dryer drum.
